Virginia Coal & Energy Alliance and Southern States Energy Board Join Together for 38th Annual Conference

March 22, 2017 - The Virginia Coal & Energy Alliance's 38th annual conference and exposition will be held May 22 and 23, 2017 at the Meadowview Conference Center, Kingsport, TN. The theme for this year’s meeting is “Coal: Launching a New Era.”

The Southern States Energy Board is co-sponsoring the meeting again this year. SSEB is a non-profit interstate compact organization created in 1960 and established under Public Laws 87-563 and 92-440. The Board’s mission is to enhance economic development and the quality of life in the South through innovations in energy and environmental policies, programs and technologies. Sixteen southern states and two territories comprise the membership of SSEB: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia and West Virginia.

The Southern States Energy Board’s Committee on Clean Coal Energy Policies and Technologies (composed of industries, academia and business executives) advances opportunities for applied research and development, investment, international cooperation and technology design for coal in the southern region. During its tenure, the Committee has been responsible for coupling the development of clean coal technologies with potential domestic and international economic development opportunities. The program also affords partners the opportunity to leverage U.S. resources to influence international occasions for the deployment of those coal-based technologies that mitigate greenhouse gases and provide carbon dioxide (CO2) storage solutions to reduce the effects of CO2 emissions worldwide.

VCEA and SSEB have enjoyed a strong working relationship for several years as both organizations work with the U. S. Department of Energy and are dedicated to clean coal technologies, the coal/energy, utility and transportation industries, and the energy producing regions of the United States.

If your company or organization has technology, product, equipment or a service that would be beneficial to the coal/energy industries this is the place to showcase your business. The cost for exhibit space is only $750.00, which allows one person to attend all meeting functions and special activities planned for attendees.  Limited exhibit space is available at the meeting.  Call TODAY to insure the opportunity of showcasing your company.

The annual golf outing will be Monday, May 22nd at the Meadowview’s Cattails nestled between the rolling foothills of the Appalachian and Great Smoky Mountain, offering fantastic scenery as you play the challenging par 71 golf course.

The 18 Hole championship course was designed by the renowned Denis Griffiths and is conveniently located adjacent to the Hotel.  The fifth annual fishing tournament will also be Monday afternoon, May 22nd in the TriCities area.
