November 2, 2017 - Epiroc AB, the subsidiary of Atlas Copco Group that is planned to be listed on the stock exchange in 2018, has begun operating as an independent business. It is providing customers in mining and civil engineering with market-leading products and services.

Atlas Copco announced in January 2017 that the Group will split into two companies in 2018. Epiroc, focusing on mining and civil engineering customers and Atlas Copco, focusing on industrial customers. Epiroc, still a subsidiary of Atlas Copco, has already begun operating under its own brand name and logo. The parent believes the split will enable both groups to further strengthen leading positions by delivering sustainable productivity solutions to all customers.

“Atlas Copco is a large industrial organisation and the board of directors saw the benefit in having a more mining-focused company. With this new set up, Epiroc will be much more focused on our industry, with the ability to advance our innovations at a quicker pace. Epiroc is devoted to providing customers with products and services that enhance their productivity, energy efficiency, safety and ergonomics. We are a new company that has over 144 years of mining experience” said Jason Smith, General Manager, Epiroc Customer Center.

In Canada, the Epiroc organisation began operating as a legal entity on September 1, 2017. The local Epiroc organisation consists of over 400 employees and hosts 20 branch offices nation-wide dedicated to supporting its customers’ needs.

“With cutting-edge technology, Epiroc develops and produces innovative drill rigs, rock excavation and construction equipment, and provides world-class service and consumables. The company was founded in Stockholm, Sweden, and has passionate people supporting and collaborating with customers in more than 150 countries.”
