Atlas Copco Receives First Order of Mobile Miner 40V From Hecla Mining Company

November 10, 2017 - After successful joint R&D efforts between Atlas Copco and Hecla Mining Company, the first order of Mobile Miner 40V was recently received. The machine will be delivered to the Lucky Friday mine in Idaho, USA.

“We are excited over the first Mobile Miner 40V order from Hecla Mining Company. We have had a good cooperation in the R&D project and will now deliver the first in hopefully a series of Mobile Miners to Hecla,” said Mikael Ramström, Global Strategic Projects and Alliances at Atlas Copco.

The Mobile Miner family consists of powerful mechanical rock excavation machines which are fully customizable. They utilize a well-known steel disc cutter technique, packaged in a small and flexible machine ideal for mining use. The continuous mining technology used by Mobile Miner makes mining projects more productive, more predictable and easier to schedule.

“We see mechanical rock cutting as an important step forward to significantly increase productivity and safety as we mine at greater depths at the Lucky Friday, and are proud to be working with Atlas Copco, a leader in the field, to develop the Remote Vein Miner,” said Phillips S. Baker, Jr. Hecla Mining Company’s President and CEO.
