West Virginia Man Dies After Mining Accident

 

 

June 7, 2018 - A Belington, West Virginia man injured in a mining accident Tuesday later died of his injuries.


The West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health, Safety and Training confirmed Wednesday that Ronald R. Taylor, 43, was injured at approximately 12:20 a.m. at Carter Roag Coal Company’s Morgan Camp Mine in Randolph County.


Taylor was flown from the mine to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, where he died from head injuries he sustained in the incident.

 

Preliminary information indicates the injuries occurred when the mantrip on which Taylor was riding struck a steel object in the roadway. Taylor was a shuttle car operator.

 

Inspectors from the Office of Miners’ Health, Safety and Training are investigating and had no further comment Wednesday.
