December 10, 2018 - The sixth annual Coal Miners Day Swap Meet was held Saturday in Fairmont, West Virginia.

This year it was located on the third floor of Arts and Antiques Marketplace on Adams Street.

This event is always held around December 3rd, which is National Miner's Day.

A resolution was passed to establish this day in 2009 in the United States to recognize the contribution of miners for the well being of all.

This event displays a variety of mining memorabilia and collectibles.

"Coal mining, whether we want to acknowledge it or not, it put the united states where it is today as far as it's industrial leadership and military strength, and that kind of thing. Coal played a huge role in all of that," said Mike Rohaly, event coordinator.

This event is hosted by the Northern Appalachian Coal Mining Heritage Association.
