October 1, 2019 - Ten people with ties to Missouri S&T will be honored during the Miner Alumni Association’s Legends Luncheon on Friday, Oct. 4. The awards banquet is held in conjunction with Missouri S&T Homecoming festivities.

The event will be held noon-1:30 p.m. in the Kinyon-Koeppel Grand Hall of Hasselmann Alumni House at Missouri S&T, located at 1100 N. Pine St. in Rolla. Award recipients include:

— Dixie Finley of Rolla, Missouri, will receive the Robert V. Wolf Alumni Service Award. Finley, retired school counselor for Rolla Public Schools, earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology from S&T in 1968.

— Nicole Galloway of Jefferson City, Missouri, will receive the Distinguished Young Alumni Award. Galloway, current Missouri state auditor, earned bachelor of science degrees in economics and mathematics from S&T in 2004.

— William Hallett of Tucson, Arizona, will receive the Frank H. Mackaman Alumni Volunteer Service Award. Hallett, retired senior business analyst for Truck Engine Marketing in the Engine Division of Caterpillar Inc., earned a bachelor of science degree in metallurgical engineering from S&T in 1955.

— Dr. Steven Jung of Rolla, Missouri, will receive the Alumni Achievement Award. Jung, current chief technology officer for Mo-Sci Corp. and president of ETS Wound Care, earned a bachelor of science and master of science degrees in ceramic engineering from S&T in 2005 and 2007 respectively, and a Ph.D. in materials science engineering from S&T in 2010.

— Dr. Janet Kavandi of Houston, will receive the Alumni Achievement Award. Kavandi, director of the NASA John H. Glenn Research Center, earned a master of science degree in chemistry from S&T in 1982.

— Paul Lang of Creve Coeur, Missouri, will receive the Alumni Merit Award. Lang, president and chief operating officer for Arch Coal Inc., earned a bachelor of science degree in mining engineering from S&T in 1983.

— Dr. Steve Liu of Rolla, Missouri, will receive the Class of ’42 Excellence in Teaching Award. Liu is an assistant professor of finance in business and information technology at S&T.

— Dr. Christopher Maples of Portland, Oregon, will receive the Honorary Life Member Award. Maples, current interim president at Pacific Northwest College of Art, formerly served as interim chancellor of S&T.

— Gerald Stevenson of Highland City, Florida, will receive the Alumni Merit Award. Stevenson, retired senior vice president of worldwide marketing and sales for Jacobs Engineering Group, earned bachelor of science and master of science degrees in chemical engineering from S&T in 1959 and 1963, respectively.

— Stephanie Vogt of Chesterfield, Missouri, will receive the Distinguished Young Alumni Award. Vogt, chief operating officer of Inside Rx, a subsidiary of Express Scripts, earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and a master of science in engineering management, both from S&T, in 2003 and 2005, respectively.
