West Virginia Governor Addresses Coal Industry Leaders at 47th Annual West Virginia Mining Symposium

November 13, 2019 - West Virginia Governor Jim Justice spoke in front of hundreds of coal executives, mining machinery manufacturers, and other industry leaders today, as part of the 47th Annual West Virginia Mining Symposium.

The event was hosted by the West Virginia Coal Association and was held at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center.

'Our coal industry here in West Virginia is so vital to everything we do, it's unbelievable,' Gov. Justice said. 'Not only does this incredible resource power our homes, it also powers the economy - both in our great state and the entire country.'

During his remarks, the Governor said that he hopes to continue to build on the positive momentum of recent years of growth in the industry.

'We've been going north and I want to keep going north,' Gov. Justice said. 'There's still more that we need to do, because every single coal mine job gives us a multiplier effect that's off the charts for our state.

'I have such a passion for coal, I owe just about my entire life to it. You'll never have to doubt - in any way - where I stand on this industry. We need to have an all-in approach with coal and all of our natural resources and we just need to keep growing.'
