Longtime Fairchild International Employee, Bennie Philips, Passes

 

 

August 9, 2020 - Bennie Joe Phillips, age 87, of Scott Ridge Road, Beaver, WV, passed away at his home on Friday, August 7, 2020, after a long illness.
Born on October 22, 1932, at Hamlet, WV, he was the son of the late Burgess Phillips and Eva Akers Phillips.


Bennie was a veteran having served in the US Army in Korea. He worked most of his life in the coal mining industry, having worked for Wilcox Manufacturing and retired from Fairchild International.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Rochelle Phillips, in 2007, by daughter Lynetta Radford, step son, David Redden, by brothers Oatie, Archie, Howard and Delbert Phillips; by sisters Virginia Wright and Donnie Osborne.


Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife, Brenda Williams Phillips; sons, Dennis Phillips and wife Jenny of Midway, and Dwayne Phillips of Beaver. Step children, Tammy Drennen, Lisa Bennett, Michael and Vincent Redden, whom he loved as his own.


Grandchildren, Meleaha Phillips Levitt of Midway, and Zach Phillips and his wife Samantha of Beaver; step grandchildren Lindsey Redden of Beckley, and Stacy Bennett of North Carolina; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Lloyd Phillips, and Lionel Phillips and wife Sue of Grandview; a sister, Carol Pace and husband Lee of Beaver; sisters-in-law, Drema Cass and Clara Large.


He also leaves many more extended family members, his church family, and many friends who he loved dearly.


Funeral services will be conducted at Crow Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at noon with Pastor Rod Baker and Pastor Dennis Burks officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 10AM until service time on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions be made to: Crow Baptist Church Missions Fund, P.O. Box 137, Daniels, WV 25832.
