Morgantown, WV, June 23 – Pillar Innovations LLC was recently named a distributor of Kutta Technologies, Inc.’s Digital Radio for Underground Miners (DRUM), a medium frequency (MF) radio.

“We’re excited about Kutta’s DRUM because it is a great complement to the Becker SMC system that we also distribute,” said Adam Brenneman, Director of Sales and Marketing. “This combination allows us to supply mines with a complete cost-effective and MINER-act compliant solution.”

Kutta’s DRUM system provides a backup when primary systems go down by parasitically coupling with metallic infrastructure that already exists in the mine. This is key during an incident as no additional structures are needed to allow communication. The DRUM can also be used as a secondary system to extend the reach of a leaky feeder system.

“Distributing the DRUM is one more piece in the Pillar puzzle,” said Brenneman. “We’re now able to provide even more thorough solutions for mines.”
