Updated WV Annual Mining Symposium set for April 18-19 in Charleston

  


March 22, 2023 - The West Virgina Coal Association Annual Mining Symposium is set for April 18-19 at the Embassy Suites in Charleston.  

 

WVCA MINING SYMPOSIUM APRIL 18-19 The 49th Annual Mining Symposium set for April 18-19 is coming together well and promises to be a great event.  The following speakers are confirmed to address the joint meeting with the WV Coal Mining Institute: Governor Justice, Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, WVCA Chairman Michael Day, Michelle Bloodworth (America’s Power), Seth Swartz (Energy Venture Analysis), Chris Williamson MSHA.  Additionally, John Deskins of WVU’s Bureau of Business and Economic Research will unveil his most recent economic study on the “Impacts of WV Metallurgical Coal and US Steel Production”.

 

The Mountaineer Guardian Awards Luncheon and the traditional Environmental Excellence Luncheons will be on Tuesday, April 18 and Wednesday, April 19, respectively.

Another highlight of this year’s program features the West Virginia Coal Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony.  The 2023 Honorees include: Paul Lang (Arch), Thomas Wynne (Alliance), Eddie Asbury (Southern Minerals), Doug Dahl (CONSOL-Peabody) and Stan Suboleski (Massey).

To register for the program, please click here https://www.wvcoal.com/events/symposium-2023 This will take you to the Symposium page where you can register as an individual member, individual nonmember, special member, or for the sponsorship.  Once registered, you will receive a computer-generated invoice for payment or you may pay with any credit card in which case, you will receive a computer-generated receipt.

 

REGISTRATION FEES:

Individual registration fee is $450 per member and $600 per nonmember.  A special registration rate is also available for students and retired mining members at the rate of $100.00.

 

 SPONSORSHIPS FEES:

We are also promoting a range of sponsorships this year to showcase the Symposium and supporters within the industry.  Each Individual sponsorship will include registration fees and a prominent tabletop display for their company exhibit.

 

The different sponsorship levels include:

Platinum Level at $5000 (admission for 8 plus display):

Gold level at $3500 (admission for 5 plus display):

Silver Level at $2500 (admission for 3 plus display): and

Friends of Coal Level at $1000 (admission for 1 plus display).

A special block of rooms is being held at the Embassy suite Hotel until April 3rd, 2023. You can also call the reservations department at 1-800-EMBASSY or 304-347-8700

A block of rooms at a discounted rate are also being held in the Association’s name at the Holiday Inn Express adjacent to the Coliseum and Conference Center until March 25th, 2023.
