May 17, 2016 - A fatality reported from Leer Mine in Grafton, WV seems to be medically related, according to authorities.

“I can’t confirm that it was mine-related, but I can confirm that a fatality did occur,” said Leslie Smithson, spokeswoman for Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). “With the preliminary information, at this time, we are under the impression that it could be medical in nature.” 

Smithson said MSHA is conducting a full investigation to determine the cause.
