May 24, 2016 - It’s time for another road trip! The Virginia Coal and Energy Alliance (VCEA) has a bus traveling to Knoxville, TN this Thursday, May 26th.
The National Mining Association (NMA) has asked VCEA to help in making coal supporters of attend this hearing regarding mining federal lands. It is imperative that we had a strong presence at this meeting.
Bring your wife, your brother, your mother and father. Bring your neighbor. The coal industry needs a few strong friends!
The Department of the Interior’s comprehensive review of the federal coal program, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has announced the dates and locations for a series of public meetings in May and June to solicit public input. The Administration wants to keep coal in the ground.
It has announced multi-year moratorium on new sales of coal leased from federal land. It’s a down payment to climate change activists who want to “keep coal in the ground”. These meetings will provide the public with opportunities to help the BLM identify and evaluate potential reforms to the federal coal program.
We would like your help to get coal supporters to join us in this effort. We do not have all of the details of the trip worked out yet but anticipate to begin picking up attendees in Bluefield around 5 am with stops in Claypool Hill, Lebanon and Norton and to leave Norton by 7 am at the latest for the trip to Knoxville. Meals on the trip will be provided. We will return after the meeting and will drop off in the reverse order of picking up.
This trip is critical to the future of the coal industry and it is extremely important that the support for coal be seen and heard. If you or others are interested in attending the Knoxville meeting with us, contact VCEA at 276-889-4001 or barb@virginiacoalenergy.com.
Therefore, it is imperative that we have a strong delegation in attendance – industry’s voice MUST be heard.
VCEA will provide attendees breakfast, lunch and dinner.
