May 27, 2016 - According to data from the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration, the Federal No. 2 mine in Monongalia County, WV has been idled, and is listed in "non-producing" status. MSHA data shows the status changed to "non-producing" last Tuesday.

The mine is currently operated by the Virginia Conservation Legacy Fund. 5 News has contacted CEO Tom Clarke's office for comment, but he was unavailable. 

VCLF acquired the mine from Patriot Coal in October of last year, as part of Patriot's bankruptcy plan.
