January 9, 2023 - The US’s mining industry registered a 9.9% rise in IT hiring activity in December 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 0.61% in December 2022 when compared with November 2022.
Out of the mining industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.73% share in December 2022, recording an increase of 0.11% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the US’s mining industry’s IT recruitment activity in December 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 95.98% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s mining industry in December 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 28.16% in December 2022, registering a 206.25% growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 24.71% share, an increase of 72% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 22.41%, registering a 160% rise from November 2022.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 11.49%, up 25% over the previous month.
Top five mining companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in December 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 217.86% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s mining industry during December 2022 over November 2022.
Freeport-McMoRan posted 44 IT jobs in December 2022 and registered a rise of 109.52% over the previous month, followed by RTI International Metals with 23 jobs and a flat growth. Aditya Birla Management Corp with 8 IT jobs and Charter Manufacturing with 7 jobs, recorded a 33.33% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Topcon recorded an increase of 600% with 7 job postings during December 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 50.57%, up by 183.87% from November 2022. Mid Level positions with a 34.48% share, registered an increase of 160.87% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 14.94% share, up 18.18% over November 2022.
