Did you know that virtual reality (VR) is beginning to play a key role in mine rescue training?

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has been developing a VR program that will almost assuredly have a major impact on mine rescue training in the not-too-distant future.

The CORESafety TV team recently traveled to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to meet the NIOSH team and to see a VR demonstration first-hand.

Once it is eventually perfected, the VR technology is expected to help with the training of ALL miners, not just those in mine rescue training.

Some examples of this will be fire brigade training for fire teams, Red Hat training for new hires with no previous experience and maintenance training for maintenance trainees.
