Electric Power Monthly and Electricity Monthly Update—October 2024
October 27, 2024 - EIA has released the October 2024 Electricity Monthly Update with data for August 2024. The following are some highlights:
- Texas (ERCOT) set a new all-time high electricity peak demand record of 85.5 gigawatts on August 20.
- The residential sector saw a 4.5% increase in average revenues per kilowatthour compared with August 2023.
- Total U.S. coal stockpiles decreased by 4.4% to 122 million tons compared with the previous month.

EIA has released the October 2024 Electric Power Monthly with data for August 2024. The following are some highlights:
- Net generation in the United States increased 0.2% from August 2023.
- Consumption of natural gas for power generation was up 1.3% compared with August 2023.
- The average residential retail price of electricity was up 4.5% from August 2023.
