Busy Times at West Virginia University for Collegiate Mine Rescue Training...and More!

October 29, 2024 - Imagine being a new student at West Virginia University who shows up with a plan, but later discovers mining engineering and decides to switch majors right there on the spot.

That’s what happened to Trent Cavanaugh, a senior at the WVU Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources in Morgantown.

In this episode, NMA’s Vice President of Health and Safety Paul Krivokuca interviews Cavanaugh to get the inside scoop on this interesting mining student’s story.

But before that, we also meet Josh Brady, the director of the WVU Mining Extension program, who shows us what the WVU Collegiate Mine Rescue Team is up to these days.

Plus, there’s even more happening at WVU’s Academy for Mine Training and Energy Technologies, whether you’re a student or a mining professional who’s there for hands-on training.

Be sure to watch
CORESafety TV over the next year as we update you on a variety of mining-related collegiate stories at WVU...and at other schools as well.
