November 6, 2024 - Below is a message from Chris Hamilton, President, West Virginia Coal Association:  

After an extremely long and exhausting campaign, Former President Trump was officially declared a winner early this morning when the results of Wisconsin were recorded and with Governor Justice's landslide victory and challenger Bernie Moreno's victory in Ohio over Sheron Brown in Ohio, Republicans were successful in securing the majority in the US Senate.  The US House of Representatives will likely remain under Republican leadership when final votes are tallied later today. 

On the state level, all the State Executive Offices were won by republican candidates and both Houses of the Legislature grew their super majorities.  Attorney General Patrick Morrisey won decisively over challenger Steve Willams by a 62% to 31% margin to succeed Jim Justice as the states next Governor, JB McCuskey won his race for Attorney General, Kris Warner won Secretary of State race and Senator Mark Hunt won State Auditor. Kent Leonhardt was successful in winning his third term as Agricultural Commissioner.
