MSHA: Fatal Mining Accident in West Virginia

 

March 3, 2025 - The federal Mine Safety and Health Administration reports a coal miner died in West Virginia last Friday.

According to the MSHA website, the miner died at around 2:50 p.m. Friday at the Black Eagle Mine in Raleigh County operated by Alpha Metallurgical Resources.

The accident, which took place underground, involved a “Fall of Face, Rib, Side or Highwall,” MSHA said.

Investigations are underway by MSHA and the state Office of Mine Safety, Health & Training.
