NMA Applauds House Natural Resources for Advancing Mining Priorities in Reconciliation Package

May 7, 2025 - The National Mining Association (NMA) issued the following statement from Rich Nolan, NMA President and CEO, applauding the House Natural Resources Committee for advancing its reconciliation package.

"The Natural Resources Committee Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) and his committee leadership including subcommittee chairs Pete Stauber (R-Minn.), Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo.), Tom Tiffany (R-Wis.), and vice chair Nick Begich (R-Alaska) all deserve great credit for the inclusion of a range of important mining-related matters in the Natural Resources reconciliation package which passed the committee today. The legislation shows just how important mining is to our economic and national security, and it is also aligned with the President's clear direction to unleash American energy and once again make America the world's premier mineral producer. By supporting leasing programs and reasonable royalty rates for energy production and clearing obstacles to responsible mining projects, Congress can deliver a win for all Americans on our way to renewed energy and mineral dominance."
