July 10, 2017 - Harvard University has found that 80 percent of coverage in this president’s first 100 days was negative, compared to 41 percent for President Obama. Reinforcing that bias, three CNN reporters resigned after being forced to retract and apologize for a fake news story about a Trump ally. The left-leaning press corps’ guerilla warfare over alleged collusion with Russian election meddling has finally diminished for lack of evidence. What’s left? President Trump’s tweets produce daily headlines. With the drone of negative media coverage, it’s no wonder liberal friends love to ask, “So what do you think about your president now?" For those who voted for President Trump, here are 15 things we can share about why we still support his administration:

1. His appointment of Justice Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court and promise to appoint similar federal judges in the future reaffirms his commitment to appoint judges who will uphold the Constitution and resist using the court to legislate.

2. You don’t just elect a president; you elect the people they bring with them. From James Mattis to Rex Tillerson, Trump has appointed and delegated authority to a great, experienced team.

3. He’s increasing military spending, supporting our veterans, and improving care at the Veterans Administration. With his support, Iraqi forces are defeating ISIS and ending their visions of an Islamic caliphate before it can even begin.

4. His support for both “Kate’s Law” and “No Sanctuary for Criminals Act” speaks to his strong stand against illegal immigration and has helped decrease the estimated flow across the border by over 60 percent since he took office.

5. Trump is working to exit the Paris Climate Accord initially negotiated with the U.N. without congressional approval. He promises continued environmental progress but refuses to allow U.S. taxpayers to pay for other nations’ improvements or subjugate U.S. energy policy to an international panel of bureaucrats.

6. Trump has already cut crippling small business regulations and reversed many Obama-initiated regulations, including those limiting coal mining and those preventing states from withholding Planned Parenthood funds. He’s working to either replace or repeal Obamacare, the grievously flawed Affordable Care Act. You can’t blame citizens from getting hooked on free benefits, but neither can you bankrupt tax payers and future generations with an ill-conceived, ill-funded, and unsustainable plan.

7. Like Reagan, Trump believes compassion is not measured by how many receive government welfare, but by how many no longer need it. Trump has proposed cutting costs by tightening welfare eligibility requirements, a plan that in Maine has cut food stamp use by 80 percent. Trump states, “Work must be the center of our social policy.” Improving one’s skills and working hard remains the best "anti-poverty program." Wasted welfare “takes away scarce resources from those in real need.”

8. He’s working with Congress to deliver a once-in-a-generation change in our archaic tax code. His tax plan will help businesses compete internationally, bring home trillions of dollars in corporate profits, lower personal taxes, expand our economy, and increase federal revenue and American jobs. He’s working to help Americans keep more of what they earn.

9. He’s instituted an “America First” energy policy that will keep energy prices low and promote energy independence. Capitalizing on our coal, oil, natural gas reserves, and clean energy innovations, America can create jobs and stop sending our energy money to countries who help fund terrorism.

10. He’s taking a stand for proof-of-citizenship voting and requesting voting data to assess whether voting fraud is a myth or a reality. He is ready to penalize states who refuse to provide voting data.

11. The President and Secretary DeVos are working to bring school choice to more Americans and to resolve the skilled worker shortage by reversing onerous Obama regulations that prohibited private colleges from offering degrees for specific jobs that lead to such careers as engineering, aircraft or automotive repair, law enforcement, and nursing.

12. He’s challenged other NATO and U.N. members to pay their share of the costs on the threat of limiting or pulling U.S. funding. Our NATO allies are already increasing their contributions.

13. Trump is eager to work with both parties to increase funding for American bridges, highways, and other critical infrastructure improvements.

14. Trump’s administration is working to drain the swamp, consolidating unnecessary and overlapping programs. He is taking on the “Deep State” federal bureaucrats who impose their political agenda, irrespective of election results.

15. Finally, Trump has figured out ways to get around much of the biased media and talk 24/7 directly to the American people. He may cross the line on many tweets, but his desire to confront political correctness and media bias is to be praised. He’s a populist warrior who’s not afraid to point out and push back against the false, biased news that has previously run unchallenged by the left-leaning media.

That’s why I’m glad we have four years of President Donald Trump and not President Hillary Clinton.
