Production Returns to Australia's Blair Athol Coal Mine

August 16, 2017 - TerraCom has launched production at the Blair Athol thermal coal mine in Queensland, Australia, just over a year since it acquired the site.

Blair Athol is operated by TerraCom subsidiary Orion Mining, which started production at the site on schedule.

The operation will rapidly ramp up as planned to a rate of around two million tonnes per annum by the fourth quarter of this year.

“Initial coal sales will meet product specification as a bypass crushed thermal product,” TerraCom said in an ASX announcement.

“The coal production has been in conjunction with bulk earthworks required for the rehabilitation of the prior operations towards a final landform as defined in the environmental authority.

“The dragline overhaul is continuing as planned with dragline being placed back into operation before the end of the month. Similarly, the recommission of the CHPP continues on plan with a scheduled recommencement mid-October 2017.”

The Blair Athol mine was bought by TerraCom for $1 in July last year.
