September 4, 2017 - It opened in a blaze of glory earlier this year following its £40m transformation into a luxury hotel, spa and events venue.
But The Exchange in Cardiff Bay, Wales, UK was missing something - a name for its bar.
So in a bid to get as many good ideas as possible to choose from, it put out a public appeal for suggestions .
More than 350 people wracked their brains and posted their ideas on The Exchange’s Facebook page but it was Jenna James who came up with the winning moniker - Glo.
And it couldn't be more appropriate for the historic building which was once the hub of trading within the coal industry and the name means 'coal' in Welsh.
Glo and two other suggestions which stood out to The Exchange Hotel staff - Boston’s Bar and Novello Lounge - were put to a Facebook vote and Glo was the overall winner.
Other funny suggestions included The Coal Hole, Dragon’s Den, What A Bute!, The Coal Bunker, Exshaken Not Stirred, Exchange Your Change and Light My Fire.
The Exchange Hotel’s General Manager Brian Gamble says: “ Glo is the perfect name for the bar at The Exchange Hotel and is fitting with the venues history and we look forward to welcoming the people of Wales and beyond there."
