Mining and Energy Museum in Ohio Seeks Funding

April 3, 2018 - A group working to preserve part of Ohio's history is looking for a new place to call home.

The Harrison Coal and Reclamation Historical Park is located west of New Athens, and is dedicated to the history of mining and energy. It has about 20 pieces of equipment, and hosts shows related to those fields and others.

The artifacts are stored on leased land, but the group says its critical to raise money to buy land in a new location.

“Unfortunately the land owner is canceling all the leases in that area so that affects all the people in that area where our storage place is located,” said Bryan Coulson, board of directors.

Once enough money is raised to buy the land, a museum and vocational training center will be built.
