June 16, 2019 - The Old King Coal Festival Committee is requesting financial donations for a monument to honor the 119 miners who died in the explosion at the Orient #2 Mine in Illinois on December 21, 1951.  The monument will be erected at the Coal Miners Memorial Park in West Frankfort.  A Memorial Service is held each year on Saturday during the Old King Coal Festival.
