Coal Mining is Most Essential for a Strong Nation

By Eldon Nash, Mainesburg

February 13, 2021 - We need coal to make coke to make steel, plus literally hundreds of other by-products that have used coal for its manufacture.

Furthermore coal is not a “fossil fuel” which the majority of people and politicians believe — the majority is not always correct. Coal is classified as a type of sedimentary rock. Reference “Outlines of Geology” 1950 Published by John Wiley and Son’s, NY.

This is factual, not opinion. Facts are the only things that stand, opinions are worthless, even 10,000 of them.

“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence,” said John Adams.

Lastly, the federal government under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights has no authority to control private enterprise, known as free enterprise.

Coal mining is wholly produced within each individual state. Unfortunately, the federal government can and does control interstate commerce, but coal is produced initially intrastate.

Coal was essential in helping win World War I, and today the importance of essential uses of coal have not changed — only uniformed people’s opinions which do not stand.

Back in the 1930’s FDR with his so called “New Deal” went out in the Appalachian Mountains of farming and coal mining areas with propoganda informing “hillbillies” that the government would buy up their holdings and send them into town to be reeducated supposedly to better themselves. What happened? The majority of good mountain people went on the “dole” from the government.

If one does not have individual talents, you are no longer a free man, woman or child. We are guaranteed this freedom under the U.S. Constitution which today’s politicians are attemting to erode, in my opinion.
