January 16, 2024 - According to data from the West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health, Safety & Training, there are 832 businesses in 52 of the Mountain State’s 55 counties that provide a variety of services to the coal mining industry.

From construction firms, engineering, and technical consultants, mine supply vendors, mine reclamation contractors, coal transportation companies and mining equipment manufacturers, these firms employ 43,000 West Virginians that depend on the coal industry for their livelihoods.
