February 7, 2024 - With a 2,000 MW generating capacity, the three units at the Harrison Power Station in Harrison County, WV consume more West Virginia coal (6.5 million tons annually) than any other power plant in the state.

The coal used at the plant is received directly from the adjacent Harrison County Mine by conveyor belt, making it one of two “mine mouth” power plants in the state.  Each year the plant makes about 13 million megawatt hours of electricity. 

The Harrison County plant is responsible for 414 direct jobs and another 1,066 indirect jobs in the local economy, accounting for $178 million in annual wages. 

The plant’s total economic impact is more than $1.1 billion annually.
