March 1, 2024 - West Virginia is the largest supplier of metallurgical coal to the American iron, steel and metals industry.
A study completed last year by WVU attributed almost $196 Billion in U.S. economic output to the manufacturing activity that relies on Mountain State metallurgical coal. Another $42 billion in wages is generated by the 577,000 jobs that rely on the production of West Virginia met coal.
