July 9, 2024 - In West Virginia, firefighters from Benwood, McMechen and Bethlehem were joined by those from Wheeling late Sunday night to tackle a fire at a coal storage silo in Benwood operated by the Ohio County Coal Co., a division of American Consolidated Natural Resources.

The fire started along a belt that transports coal from along Boggs Run Road to the storage silo. A Benwood police officer noticed the fire after 10 p.m. Sunday.

The fire was handled within an hour.
