West Virginia Miners Celebrated for Helping Rebuild Western North Carolina Road
October 28, 2024 - The governor of West Virginia applauded miners from the Mountain State on Sunday who he said are helping rebuild in western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene.
West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice shared a photo Sunday of nine men who are being credited with helping rebuild a road from Bat Cave to Chimney Rock, North Carolina.

“Another reminder of why West Virginia miners are the absolute best in the world,” Justice said.
The group gained popularity on social media after videos were shared showing them help rebuild the road.
Western North Carolina was devastated by flooding following Hurricane Helene and has spent weeks rebuilding infrastructure and restoring service to the region.
