Bluefield Coal & Mining Show Adopts Revised Theme

February 20, 2025 - This is an important year for the coal industry with the iconic Bluefield Coal & Mining Show scheduled for September 10-12 at the Brushfork Armory Civic Center, Bluefield, WV.

“We believe that this year’s show will be well-attended and will continue to bring together the people who make up the mining and energy sector just as we have done for the last 49 years,” said Bob Ramsey, CEO of Peters Equipment and Coal Show General Chairman.

"We foresee a promising shift in the coal industry. With a more favorable regulatory environment on the horizon, along with improved market conditions, the outlook is incredibly positive. The surge in electricity demand, particularly from data centers, combined with the increasing need for metallurgical coal, signals strong growth in the sector,” he said.

“The show provides an excellent opportunity for us to connect with industry leaders, explore new technologies, and discuss how we can capitalize on these emerging trends. We’re thrilled to be part of this dynamic event and look forward to the exciting prospects it will bring.” Ramsey Concluded.

Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of the Two Virginias, the Bluefield Coal & Mining Show has been delighting attendees for nearly 50 years. The first Coal Shows were held in 1976 and 1977 and thereafter (except for Covid Years) the Show has been held every other year. The Bluefield Coal Show certainly has earned its reputation as an iconic name in the coal industry!

Recently the Show Executive Committee met in Bluefield to discuss some of the exciting features for the Show. This year, the top priority is providing a renewed focus on increasing the return on investment for exhibitors and the theme will be “Connecting Buyers & Sellers”. The Bluefield Coal & Mining Show is without doubt by far the best attended Coal Show in the country and typically attracts 6000-7,000 visitors from all 25 coal-producing states of the country plus visitors from overseas.

Present at the meeting were: Jeff Disibbio, Chamber President & CEO; Debbie Maynard, Chamber VP; Bob Ramsey, Show Chairman; Ben Ramsey, Show Manager; Carmen Hendrick, Chamber Business & Professional Development; Kyle Hurt, Mefcor CEO, and Bill Reid, Managing Editor, CoalZoom.com. The show is run entirely by volunteers and the Chamber staff, who are skilled in show management thus ensuring the great success of the Show and that exhibitors are well-served. The Show provides a considerable part of the Chamber’s financial budget thus ensuring that the Chamber is able to continue its important work in contributing to the region and enhancing the quality of life in the community.

Originally, the Bluefield Coal Show was regarded as a regional coal show but with the number of visitors now coming from all coalfields and several countries, and attendees converging on Bluefield, WV from across the nation, the Show is fairly regarded as a National Event.
