A Look at the Upcoming West Virginia Coal Festival

 

 

June 1, 2025 - The 31st West Virginia Coal Festival will take place from June 17-21 in Downtown Madison and here is a list of everything that it will have to offer each day.


On Tuesday, June 17, the carnival opens at 6 p.m. while a memorial service will take place at the Boone County Courthouse steps at 7 p.m. As soon as the ceremony is over, gospel singing will ensue at the main stage.

On Wednesday, June 18, the carnival will again open at 6 p.m., and karaoke will be available on the main stage from 6-10 p.m.


On Thursday, June 19, the carnival will once again open at 6 p.m., while a band called non-friction will perform at 8 p.m. before Landslide, a Fleetwood Mac cover band, performs at 9:30 p.m.


On Friday, June 20, ASW wrestling will take place on Main Street from 4-7 p.m., and there will also be free train rides around town from 4-7 p.m. There will be a dunking booth all evening along with a rock wall and free mechanical bull rides at Upper Main Street.


The carnival will open at 6 p.m. on Friday, and a bike show will occur in front of the courthouse from 5-8 p.m. with prizes being awarded. Singers Josh Pantry (8 p.m.) and Aaron Tippin (9:30 p.m.) will perform on the main stage, and there will be a meet and greet with entertainment at the firehouse.


Then, on Saturday, June 21, there will be a dog show from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will also be a parade from Scott High School to People’s Bank with line up beginning at 2 p.m. Free mechanical bull and train rides will be available from 3:30-8:30 p.m. and a rock wall will be present, too.


Also on Saturday, the carnival opens at 5 p.m. Singer Troy Carlois will perform on the main stage at 8 p.m. before a Toby Keith tribute band will perform at 9:30 p.m. The festival will conclude with fireworks at 11 p.m.


A coal mining equipment display as well as a museum will be present daily at the festival.
