Riders for Miners Supports Nonprofit Organization

June 30, 2025 - On Saturday morning, motorcyclists dominated the roads in the Two Virginias, and it’s all for a good cause.

Historic Pocahontas Inc. hosts a Coal Miners Reunion every year, and to fundraise for this year’s event, they hosted a “Riders for Miners” event at Cole Harley Davidson in the city of Bluefield.

Complete with a group ride, lunch, and door prizes, participants got “revved” up to show support for local coal miners, having a “wheelie” good time in the process.

“This whole area with Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia and Virginia, this is coal country. This is what bought everything that is established today, so we like to honor the ancestors and then the coal miners,” said Monica Garnett, a board member of Historic Pocahontas Inc.

“We love being able to sponsor events like this and get riders out for good causes, and to honor the legacy of the coal miners in our country. And, you know, when we say ‘ride coal country’, that’s exactly what we’re doing here,” added Beth Moore, the general manager of Cole Harley Davidson in Bluefield.
