December 10, 2025 - President Trump was in Pennsylvania yesterday talking, in part about his economic policies and top of his mind was mining and coal. In his speech he said, in part, “One of the most important ways we're defeating inflation is by unleashing American energy, including oil gas and clean beautiful coal right here in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”
Yesterday we told you that, for the next two weeks in Congress, it’s all about permitting and the house is off to a running start. The House on Tuesday approved by unanimous consent both the "ePermit Act," to increase the use of technology in permitting, and the "Studying NEPA’s Impact on Projects Act." Next week, House Natural Resources Chair Bruce Westerman’s "Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development” or SPEED Act hits the floor, and, while there are questions about it’s fate once a vote comes, its certainly a bill that we believe deserves broad and enthusiastic support.
Finally, as we previewed last week, in town this week are representatives from Australia, Israel, Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom to meet with representatives from the State Department to discuss ways to better secure supply chains for minerals and materials that China controls but are needed for the AI age that is now upon us.
