December 12, 2025 - The House has passed the "PERMIT Act," which would reforming the Clean Water Act by establishing new procedures to reduce lawsuits and limit states’ authority to block certain projects.
In good news for the grid, also passing the House yesterday was the “State Planning for Reliability and Affordability Act,” which would require state utility regulators to consider the “reliable availability of electric energy” over a 10-year planning period, as well as the “Electric Supply Chain Act,” which requires regular studies of supply chain vulnerabilities facing the grid.
Finally, mining company Ionic Minerals Technologies announced that it discovered what it believes may be the nation’s largest reserve of critical minerals. The discovery at its Utah Silicon Ridge site includes high grade deposits of 16 different minerals, including lithium, alumina, germanium, rubidium, cesium, vanadium, niobium, and several rare earths.
