Miner Injured Underground at West Virginia Coal Mine
January 22, 2026 - Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director Tom Hart confirmed to 7News a miner in Marshall County has been injured at the Marshall County Mine Cameron Portal that is owned by ACNR on Goshorn Woods near Cameron, W.Va.
According to Hart, the call came into the 911 center around 3:43 p.m. reporting a worker had been injured from the waist down and it would be 40 minutes to transport the patient to the surface.
EMS crews arrived on scene around 3:53 p.m. and are waiting along with air medical, and fire crews for the worker to arrive at the surface.
Marshall County EMA Director Tom Hart tell us the injured miner is in stable condition at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
UPDATE 5:35 p.m. – Hart confirms to 7News crews were moving a piece of equipment “when the worker became pinned.”
The injured worker was life flighted to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown where they are receiving treatment. It is reported they sustained injuries to pelvic and abdominal areas. It was stated that the worker is approximately 42 years old.
