January 27, 2026 - The primary federal agency responsible for regulating coal mines in the U.S. debuted a new cartoon mascot named “Coalie” this week, an ambassador for President Donald Trump’s energy dominance agenda.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum in a social media post celebrated the lumpy character wearing a hard hat, boots and vest with a shortened acronym for the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement.

“Mine, Baby, Mine! @POTUS made it a top priority for @Interior to unleash Beautiful, Clean Coal and @OSMRE is leading the charge! Learn more about how @OSMRE is advancing @POTUS’ American Energy Dominance Agenda from their new spokesperson, Coalie!,” the secretary wrote on X.
