Metinvest Approves New Energy Targets For United Mining

February 15, 2026 - Metinvest Group’s United Mining and Processing Plant (United Mining) has approved a new version of its Energy Management Policy and Targets for 2026. The document aims to systematically improve energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption by the Northern, Central, and Ingulets Mining and Processing Plants.

The objectives include compliance with energy consumption standards, rational use of electricity, gas, heat, and water, as well as the search for and implementation of measures to improve energy performance. Compliance with legislation and industry requirements in the field of energy management is regulated separately.

The policy defines mining and processing plants as enterprises where energy efficiency is one of the key priorities. It guarantees the fulfillment of planned production volumes while achieving maximum energy efficiency,» said Maxim Strilets, head of the energy management department at the mining and processing plant.

The energy management system covers all processes, from ore extraction and processing to the production of concentrate and pellets, as well as the activities of contractors. Key areas include reducing specific energy consumption, reducing losses during electricity transmission, using secondary resources, and implementing automated control.

The company notes that, given the military restrictions on energy consumption, enterprises are systematically implementing energy independence projects. In particular, gas-fired power generation is already being used at operating plants, and the use of renewable energy sources and resource reuse are also being considered.

As a reminder, Metinvest has increased the efficiency of the combined United Mining through the implementation of a new management model and financial transformation. The company has brought together three enterprises in Kryvyi Rih under a single management, which has made it possible to optimize costs, improve product quality, and speed up decision-making. The creation of a single management center has ensured synergy between the plants, enabling more efficient use of resources and avoiding duplication of processes.
