March 3, 2026 - Shawn Whitman is a senior government executive serving at the U.S. Department of Energy, where he acts as the operational lead for the Under Secretary Office for Science. In this role, he oversees major strategic initiatives such as the Genesis Mission, the Department’s flagship AI effort to accelerate scientific discovery, strengthen national security, and unleash American energy dominance.
Previously, Whitman was Vice President of Global External Affairs at FMC Corporation, where he led the government relations and external affairs function. He supported multi-billion-dollar business transformations, complex regulatory strategies, and international market expansion across specialty chemicals, manufacturing, food ingredients, agriculture and mining. His work helped unlock new investments, manage geopolitical risk, and align public policy with long-term corporate growth objectives.

Whitman brings extensive experience in congressional affairs, interagency coordination, and international diplomacy. He is known for his collaborative leadership style, disciplined management approach, commitment to accountability, and ability to build durable partnerships across government, the private sector, and non-government organizations.
