Mining, History, Horses & Snow — Oh My!

?

If you're heading to Leadville for the 78th Annual Ski Joring on March 7th & 8th, 2026, make time to explore one of Colorado's most unique cultural treasures: the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum, right in the heart of town at 120 West 9th Street.

While the horses, riders, and skiers thunder down Historic Harrison Avenue, the Mining Hall of Fame and Museum offers the perfect complement to your weekend. Dive into Leadville's legendary boom-and-bust past through captivating exhibits on the Gold Rush, the famous Matchless Mine, and the evolving technology that built the American West. From glittering mineral collections to immersive geology displays, there's something to fascinate every member of the family.

In honor of Ski Joring weekend, we're offering a special Pay-As-You-Can admission rate for all visitors! Stop in, explore, and give what you can.

(Suggested donation is $20 per adult.)

Ski Joring weekend is a celebration of everything that makes Leadville special: its grit, its history, and its one-of-a-kind mountain spirit. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, so you can easily fit in a visit before or after the action on the course.

Don't just watch history. Experience it.
