Virginia Congressman Supports NIOSH Black Lung Screenings for Virginia Coal Miners

 

 

April 2, 2026 - NIOSH to Offer Black Lung Screenings: The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) will provide free, confidential black lung screenings for coal miners in Virginia on April 7. The screenings will take place at Stone Mountain Health Services in Vansant from 8 am to 3 pm.

Congressman Griffith's Response: U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith expressed support for the initiative, stating, “I am glad that the NIOSH Coal Worker’s Health Surveillance Program will come provide free black lung screenings to coal miners in Southwest Virginia!” He emphasized the importance of coal miners' contributions to the community.
