May 5, 2026 - The U.S. Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration has announced the renewal of its alliance with the Association of Equipment Manufacturers to ensure manufacturers and contractors have access to information, guidance, and training resources designed to protect the health and safety of miners.
MSHA’s renewed alliance with AEM – an association that works to advance construction and agricultural equipment manufacturers, including those providing equipment to the nation’s mines – emphasizes the safe use and operation of equipment at mines.
“The alliance with the nation’s equipment manufacturers honors our mission and reinforces our work together to protect the safety of miners across the country,” said Assistant Secretary for Mine Safety and Health Wayne Palmer. “We appreciate the cooperation and commitment from AEM’s President Megan Tanel and all AEM members to continue our work together at our milling and mining operations.”
The alliance has several key provisions, including:
“Keeping miners safe is a top priority for our industry, and this renewed alliance with the Mine Safety and Health Administration reaffirms our shared commitment to protecting the people who work in and around mining equipment,” said Megan Tanel, president and CEO of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. “Through continued collaboration with MSHA, AEM and our members can help advance safety education, share best practices, and support practical solutions that reduce risk and strengthen a culture of safety across the mining sector.”
MSHA regularly partners with organizations to improve the safety and health of miners. More information about these partnerships can be found on MSHA’s Alliance Program website. |
